“At last halting at the vast Falls of Rauros they are almost in sight of the Black Land east, and of the last City of Gondor westward. Decision what to do, long put off, must now be faced, for with the loss of Gandalf much of his plans and purpose remain unknown even to Aragorn.” -J.R.R. Tolkien, Letter 131

Happy Middle-earth Monday!

For this week’s check-in we’ll be wrapping up our discussions about The Fellowship of the Ring. This book is my favorite section of The Lord of the Ring and returning to it this fall has been such a joy.

In today’s post we’re talking about the choices of Frodo, the brilliant way Tolkien uses nature to influence our emotions throughout the story, and the history of Lothlórien (no, Galadriel is not the queen of that realm!)

Let’s get into it.
