Breanne - I got to know you through TikTok, but much prefer substack as a platform. I can't imagine the upkeep and comment moderation needed on that platform. This place, though relatively new to me, feels cozy and snug, where thoughtful comments and meandering ideas are embraced like a warm bowl of stew in the Green Dragon.
All best wishes! It’s wonderful to see more women Tolkien readers. Somehow the oeuvre got classified in the American mind as all sword and sorcery, as “boys’ books” for a while, but I assure you when I was growing up last century it was not so.
I am so excited to reread The Lord of the Rings! It Will be the second time reading It! Last year i was here on substack for the read-through, and i loved this cosy community. To prepare for the read-through i have judt started The Silmarillion, It IS my first time reading It, but i think i'll really like It. I can't really be thankful enough to you, Breanne, for creating this safe space for us... You have really brought me something to look foreward to.
I am looking forward to starting the Lord of the Rings on Bilbo’s birthday. I have intentionally stayed away from anything to do with the Lord of the Rings so I can feel excitement for the Lord of the Rings. I can’t believe we are already in August. August 29 can not come fast enough! Thank you Breanne for making this substack.
So glad you're here, Faith! I'm. really looking forward to our read-through this September 22nd. It's always such a lovely time. And yes, I'm thrilled to dive back in to Rings of Power too!
How do we join your LOTR read this autumn?
I linked a post that explains how it all works above!

I’ll miss you terribly on TikTok but I’m so glad I followed you here
