I came to reread from today’s post. I like the freestyle of the reading, but by any chance do you have a suggested schedule to actually read all the way through?
I don't really. Personally, I aim to start on September 22nd and read 5-7 chapters a week so I can wrap everything up some time in November. I read much faster than that but for the purpose of the read-through I intentionally slow myself down. There are 62 chapters in all. Maybe that could help you calculate your own reading speed and pace yourself accordingly?
Well because I am a spread sheet plans loving weirdo I made this. It’s a Google sheet and this link is free and anyone with it can get the schedule and use it if they find it useful. Looking forward to read LOTR with a guide. This will be a first for me.
Hey Alan, I'm not sure what you're seeing on your end. I wouldn't know how to resolve it as Substack doesn't give us troubleshoot info like their customer service department has. I have many international subscribers, so I'm not sure what the issue could be. What happens when you try to upgrade?
On android it does nothing and makes me enter it all again with multiple cards, on pc it sometimes says card declined (it certainly has funds) or again does nothing.
If you have other international subscriptions I'll try with another card type and failing that attempt to contact substack 🙂.
So it looks like your upgrade came through on my end! You should have received your welcome email (make sure to check spam folders) and if not, I can send it too you manually!
I’ll have to stay up to date with Rings of Power S2 so I can read your reviews as they come out! Also excited to this years reread, you make it so welcoming and thoughtful.
Can’t wait to read all of your posts about the books. I read them again in late spring and they were just what I needed then. I had forgotten how moving the end was.
Excited to be a part of this!!

This is awesome 👏
I am very excited for Bilbo’s birthday. So we all together can start reading The Lord of the Rings! This will be my second year.
Hi, I seem to be unable to upgrade to paid - I'm in the UK, any ideas why? Would love to support.

Hi thanks for the reply!

Wish me luck 😅

Credit card for the win.
Glad it was sorted easy enough and looking forward to geeking out on all things Tolkien! 😁

The end is SO moving. I choke up every time. And I love that you re-read them this spring. You'll be way ahead of the "fall class". 😂
