Oh my goodness. I’ve followed your instagram posts some but I’m just now reading this walk thru post. I’ve started the Silmarillion over a year ago but got bogged down a bit and set it aside. Would love to jump in here but I’m way way behind. Can I pick up and continue at my slower pace and still utilize the extras even if I’m not on the same reading timeline?
My teen asked for a print copy of The Silmarillion for Christmas after listening to the audiobook about three years ago. I might be borrowing that copy, as well as listening to audio, for this read-through. I listened to about half, in pieces, when he did. I’m almost through my first print reading of LOTR (I’m on Appendix B) after listening to parts of it previously, too. I found you on Instagram a few months ago around the time I was starting LOTR, and it’s been lovely to hear your thoughts and passages you find meaningful as I was reading along. Thank you. 😊
I have an old hardback that cost $10.95. The joy of finding the map of Beleriand folded up in the back! I will need the gentle accountability to make it through after many incomplete starts over my life.
I'm so excited to read the Silmarillion with you all! I stumbled upon Many Meetings on Instagram about a month ago and I'm so grateful to have found this beautiful, Tolkien loving group, thank you Breanne!! I've been a Tolkien fan my whole life and the timing of this read-through adventure is perfect.
I’ve had my copy of The Silmarillion forever & have started it a few times. I finally finished it about 3 weeks ago & I’m excited for this read though. There’s a lot to digest in it & I feel like this will help break it down & give more insight to the Tolkien realm. Thank you for hosting this & sharing your insights.
I an so excited! I’ve listened to the Silmarillion on Audible twice but I can’t wait to dive in with a physical copy. I ADORE Tolkien’s creation story, especially.
I will join you for this Silmarillion advanture. English is not my mother tongue and though I've read it once before it was a strugle. So I am looking forward to find new meanings in the old words with you.🤗❤️
I read the Silmarillion years ago when I was in high school (after multiple readings of the Lord of the Rings). It was my Dad's book. My Dad was the one who introduced me to Tolkien. He passed away this year and I was in a bookstore in town and bought the Silmarillion for no reason other than I didn't own a copy myself. Then you showed up in my Instagram. I feel like it's fate. I'm meant to re-read it now. 😊 Thank you for offering this.
It's been 21 years since my attempt to read The Silmarillion, and I've always wanted to go back.
The 24 chapters are within specifically the Quenta Silmarillion. What about the other four stories included in the overall book? Are they included in this read through, and if so, how?
I’m a little late but I’ll try my best to catch up with you

So ready! I just finished a reread of The Lord of the Rings and was starting The Silmarillion on my own, so this is perfect timing!

Which edition of The Silmarillion do you recommend?
Just to clarify, is this a live read through?

So don’t start reading until April 6? Or should we have the first four chapters out of the way by then?

Got my copy of The Silmarillion for my bday last year and decided to take the plunge and join you all for my first read through of it. Very excited!
